Start
On the PC, when I go to http://browzine.com, I'd like to start on My Bookshelf - as long as I'm logged in. This is in analogy to how Browzine behaves on the iPad. When not logged in, Browzine would start in the Browzine Library.

add the ability to create a placeholder for non-BrowZine journals.
Add a way for users to add a non-BrowZine compatible journal to their bookshelf and link it to the journal website, library A-to-Z list or other location.

Allow a user to mark an issue unread (the system already marks articles unread when a new issue/article comes out)
It would be useful for a user to mark an issue unread for them to better keep track of issues/articles that they wish to read, whether the issue is new or not. Note that BrowZine already marks new articles/issues unread.

Enable a way to bookmark a spot in a journal
It can sometimes be useful to not necessarily save a particular article but to bookmark my place when scanning through numerous old issues of a journal so that I can easily pick up where I left off later. Creating a function where I can place this marker on an article within an issue which is easily retrievable from the journal level and that would sync across devices would allow me to easily pick up where I left off, regardless of the device I'm using.

Include abstracts when sharing article citations via email
Whenever possible, include abstracts when sharing article citations via email; this would make it easier for the recipient to determine if the article is really of interest.

One of the goals this year is to add abstracts for thousands of titles to be displayed in BrowZine. I agree that including that in an email link you send to a colleague would be a great time saver for them so we will look into the feasibility of doing this as well!

For "My Bookshelf": alerts for new papers only within selected keywords
Only new papers accourding to keywords appear in "My bookshelf", not hole issues.

Add Yammer to "Social" options in sharing panel
Yammer is an enterprise-level Social network tool with Groups functionality. It would be great to be able to share an article found on BrowZine to a group in Yammer, effectively providing a broadcast of an article to an engaged audience. The Yammer icon would ideally be one option in the Social section of the Share window.

We will take a look at the API capabilities of Yammer to see if this might be possible!

Make it possible to mark an article as "unread" again
It's not frequent, but sometimes I'll see an article I really like, click it and get the "Not available yet, try later" error. I'd like to keep it unread so I remember to go back it later, but apparently "once clicked, always read."
Not a big deal, just for your consideration. Thanks!

Enable a user to have more than one library affiliation without logging out
This is a fairly common scenario for faculty and students who are in Medicine, for example, and who may have access to both resources available at a hospital library as well as a university.

We are investigating the possibilities of providing this feature!

Add journals from all publishers and users will only get access to what their university subscribe to. They will get a turn away otherwise.

11 votesThank you for the suggestion – we are working on a feature that will allow a library to configure this for their users if they wish to do so!

to provide the possibility to make your selection of journals in a bookcase visible to other users of your institution
As an instructor or librarian you can for instance show students easily which scientific journals are of interest for a particular course or educational program.

Provide support for adding non-library subscribed titles to My Bookshelf
A researcher may have individual subscriptions available to them and/or they are interested only in receiving TOC alerts for a title the library as a whole may not subscribe to. Provide a way to put these titles as well on My Bookshelf for easy access to these titles as well.

Have the app indicate when I have reviewed a journal
put the date of the issue in the dropdown box under "Available Issues" of a journal. If I do not remember if a journal is monthly/weekly etc. then I have no idea of Issue 2, for example, is the one I have browsed or not without actually going through it again.

Share shelfs with other users
It would be great if a user could have multiple shelfs and share shelfs with other users. Sharing both journals and specific articles. For example: A professor could compile a shelf for a specfic masters course and share it with the students.

We will be moving ahead with sharing Articles via the forthcoming “Reading List” feature. However, Sharing a “shelf” is still something we are considering the best options for. Will keep you posted!
