BrowZine Features

  1. Enable a user to have more than one library affiliation without logging out

This is a fairly common scenario for faculty and students who are in Medicine, for example, and who may have access to both resources available at a hospital library as well as a university.

  2. to provide the possibility to make your selection of journals in a bookcase visible to other users of your institution

As an instructor or librarian you can for instance show students easily which scientific journals are of interest for a particular course or educational program.

  3. Provide support for adding non-library subscribed titles to My Bookshelf

A researcher may have individual subscriptions available to them and/or they are interested only in receiving TOC alerts for a title the library as a whole may not subscribe to. Provide a way to put these titles as well on My Bookshelf for easy access to these titles as well.

  4. Have the app indicate when I have reviewed a journal

put the date of the issue in the dropdown box under "Available Issues" of a journal. If I do not remember if a journal is monthly/weekly etc. then I have no idea of Issue 2, for example, is the one I have browsed or not without actually going through it again.

  5. Share shelfs with other users

It would be great if a user could have multiple shelfs and share shelfs with other users. Sharing both journals and specific articles. For example: A professor could compile a shelf for a specfic masters course and share it with the students.

  7. We'd like this sorting enhancement, please...

Using the sorting option, titles with current full text would be displayed first, followed by embargoed content, with unsubscribed titles last.

  8. Allow multiple subjects in Widgets

I'm a librarian and have created several subject area widgets for disciplines I work with. Sometimes however your subjects don't match my institution's majors well and I'd love to be able to choose multiple subjects from the list when I make widgets. An example would be I'd like to be able to choose Women's Studies and LGBT Studies together.
    Thanks for considering.

  9. allow sort option for the widget

Allow libraries to select title or rank sort for the "Explore journals" link from the marketing widget. Apparently it used to be only sortable by title and now it's only sortable by rank due to user feedback -- giving the choice (even if it requires manually editing the generated code) would satisfy both camps.

  10. Sync items in my bookshelf to my favourites in Primo

As it is possible to integrate BrowZine within Primo it would be useful if article information saved to the my bookshelf could be synced to display in a users Primo my favourites area. Otherwise students will have to check 2 different accounts for saved items.

  11. Give librarians a list of users at their institution

We need a way to track adoption of BrowZine by our users, as well as a way to notifiy them of expected changes to the service. Apparently, this is not currently possible in BrowZine. Yet almost every publisher or database provider can provide librarians with lists of users from their institution.

  12. implement a filter to highlight unread papers

    Hi,

Great app. I use it almost on a daily basis to check for new articles in my field. Some journal issues are quite long and new papers keep on appearing. Would it be possible to add a button to filter out unread articles within an issue? The blue circle helps but it isn’t enough (IMHO).

    Thanks
    Raul

  13. Display ISSN next to the title in BrowZine Web

Visibility of the ISSN can help distinguish similarly named titles.

  15. Rename "My Bookshelf" to something like "Favorites"

The tab My Bookshelf is confusing to me. I feel like people will think they can search for our e-books using this platform. Is there way to change the name of that particular tab to something like Favorites or My Favorite Journals?

  19. Create a bookshelf that can be integrated into libguides, instead of the current practice of building a display from scratch.

I am a subject librarian for the School of Engineering. I have 8 subject guides corresponding to 8 disciplines. At the moment, the only way of displaying key journals in BrowZine is to build a table of titles from scratch. Instead, I would like to be able to create a bookshelf for each discipline, and integrate each bookshelf into the corresponding libguide.

  20. Add a warning for deleting My Articles collections in the app.

When you delete a collection in BrowZine web, you get this message: Are you sure you want to delete collection "Collection Name"? This will permanently delete this collection and all the articles it contains.

Can a similar warning be added when you delete a collection from the app? I deleted one today on my iPad and didn't realize I'd lose any articles that weren't associated with another collection. You could also add something to the warning suggesting that users should move/copy articles to other collections if they don't want to lose the articles.
